PHOTO LOCATION BASED TECHNOLOGY

 

 

 

DESCRIPTION:

This technology is part of scavenger hunt application that we are currently developing. The consumer is instructed to take

pictures of landmarks, buildings, and well known community objects. After the picture is taken, the application determines

the locations of the consumer and presents to him appropriate information (ads, further instructions, or clues).

 

The video below shows the application used to recognize the United Nations building and after the phone determines the user is

at the UN building, he is presented with the web page for the UN.

 

Other possible applications of this technology can allow the user to book tickets for events, purchase items, and post to the social

networks all based on their location.


TECHNOLOGY:

The device's camera is heavily utilized to take multiple snapshots of the object they are taking a picture of. The limited mobile

processor is then used to analyze the consumers location. Mobile internet is used to open web pages, stream video, or

connect to social networks. Bluetooth can be integrated to allow for teamwork options and GPS can be combined with the pictures

to increase the location aware application.
